Distinctive Unit Insignia


Description/Blazon
A gold color metal and enamel device 1 3/16 inches (3.02 cm) overall consisting of three black mountain peaks charged in base with an eight pointed white star, at top a gold sunburst on a blue (oriental) background, all enclosed within a convoluted gold scroll in red letters "CUSTOS SECRETORUM."

Symbolism
The golden sunburst just above the mountain peaks alludes to the sun setting in the West, and with the eight pointed rising star signifies the day and night protection given by the Group to this eight western state jurisdiction. Oriental blue is a color used by Military Intelligence.

Background
The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 14 January 1969.
